Historic Maps
HOW DO I CHOOSE MY MAP?
Once on the Historic Map product, click 'Choose your map' which will open our map-viewer page. You can then navigate through the map or search your chosen location in the search box. A town name or postcode is a great place to start!
You can then customise your map by:
- changing the map year
- horizontal or vertical
- zoom in and out or dragging your map into the right place
After you have your chosen map frame, click 'Select' in the bottom left to save your map specifications - Add to cart and checkout.

WHY ARE THERE LINES ON MY CHOSEN MAP?
Each historical map has been carefully scanned in high definition by The National Library of Scotland, as old maps were originally printed on paper the lines that you see are simply lines between pages or folds.I'D LIKE SOMETHING MORE BESPOKE, CAN I HAVE A CUSTOM SIZE PRINTED?
Yes, we can print bespoke maps, just get in touch with our helpful team and we can give you a quote.
WHAT PAPER IS MY MAP GOING TO BE PRINTED ON?
Our historical maps and surname histories are printed on specialist parchment paper which has a beige tint.
